ba in graphic design + 16 years experience

Meet your designer, Meghan

One of my earliest memories is being asked what my favorite color was by my preschool best friend, Erica. I was baffled at the concept of having just one, so I told her my favorite color palette instead. To my delight, my passion for selecting colors, creating visual systems, and organizing chaos turned into a career that I love.

In addition to 16 years of work experience spanning the print and digital realms, I have a BA in Graphic Design with a minor in Visual Communications from Whitworth University. Westerly Creative Studio was established in 2018 with the goal of providing organizations with varied support. From designing the annual collateral for the LA Food Fest to crafting a logo for the United States Biosphere Network (USBN), Westerly has had the honor of working on many wonderful projects over the years!

When I’m not busy designing, I volunteer as a judge for Adobe’s Creative Jams, focusing on UX/UI principles. These events are partnered with companies such as Target, Instagram, Ring, and Southwest Airlines.

My story behind the name

Perhaps you’re wondering why ‘Westerly’?

While many of you may know me as a New Yorker, I was only there for a brief time. In fact I was, unabashedly, born in California. I grew up exploring tide pools, racing paper boats in gutters swelling from rain, observing banana slugs, delighting in ripe peaches grown by family friends, and taking lightning drives with my parents.

Eventually we moved to Oregon — a journey that was relatively small but felt like entering a new world. I grew to love the ever-changing weather, commanding storms on the coast with waves that crash to the top of the high cliffs above, rain walks in the Columbia Gorge, and sun-soaked days by the river. For almost 20 years it was my constant.

Throughout my life I have lived in 4 additional states and have visited quite a few more. My partner and I have driven across the country twice, lived in 2 protected landscapes, and see no end to our wandering in sight. Currently we reside in the Marin area, just north of San Francisco.

No matter where I go, I feel my first love of the West with me. It is the lens through which I see the world and the home that calls me. After sorting through endless options, it felt fitting to use a name that encompassed many of the aesthetic and educational experiences that ultimately led to my career in graphic design.

Take a look at our Client Spotlights

Every year, we like to update our Client Spotlight to better show off the range of projects we take on. One thing that we love about our company is that we don’t cater to one specific kind of business or aesthetic. Instead, we work with a wide-variety of people creating everything from Squarespace websites that help save the dolphins to brand design for interior designers.
